What are you grateful for this year? There’s no doubt that this year has been a very different year for all of us in one way or another. This year has brought heartache, frustration, and disappointment for many. Yet, even still - God’s loving presence is never changing! I am so grateful that, in this year of unsteadiness, God has been the steady. In the midst of it all, He has still been pouring out His blessings! He has still been working in the hearts of His people, inviting each of us to receive the love and hope that only comes from Him. Thank you Jesus for your goodness even now!
Nothing - nothing - can separate us from the love that God has for us! In the Scriptures St. Paul writes,
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 8:38-39
What are the ways that God has loved you this year? Take some time this Thanksgiving to intentionally foster an attitude of gratitude and remember the ways in which God has worked by reflecting on the following questions:
- When were 3 specific times that you encountered God’s love this year?
- Who are the people in your life who have been a blessing to you this year?
- Who has been a support to you?
- Who has been an encouragement to you?
- Who has been a joy to you?
- What are 2 ways that you have grown this year?
- Where did you experience beauty this year?
After you’ve reflected on the ways that God has loved you, offer Him praise and thanks for the many blessings that He has given. Thank God for all of His past, present, (and future!) blessings. Also, if there are specific people who have blessed you this year - make it a point to reach out and thank them so you can share and spread the blessing.
Let’s be intentional about cultivating an attitude of gratitude!
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His mercy endures forever!”Psalm 107:1
